Our History

Banking & Payments Federation Ireland (BPFI) was established in 2014 following the integration of the Irish Banking Federation (IBF) and the Irish Payment Services Organisation (IPSO) which had been in existence since 1997.  IBF was established in 1973 on Ireland’s accession to the European Economic Community to represent the sector’s interests abroad as well as domestically. It had its origins in the Irish Banks Standing Committee which had operated as the industry’s voice since 1922.
